Guilford Teachers Endorse Republican Cindy Carter
There are approximately 300 Guilford teachers.

The following is a political endorsement on behalf of the 300 Guilford public school teachers.
“Citing her strong commitment to public education and many years of support for Guilford schools and local teachers, the Guilford Education Association today announced that it has given its endorsement in the upcoming race for State Representative in the 98th District to Republican Cindy Cartier. “Our endorsement process is nonpartisan, democratic and focused exclusively on who we think will best represent the voice of public school teachers in Hartford,” said GEA President Regina Sullivan. “Cindy Cartier is without question the right pick for Guilford teachers.”
GEA President Regina Sullivan noted several reasons for their endorsement of Cartier. “During Cindy’s service on the Board of Education, she helped to achieve many milestones for Guilford schools. She assisted in leading the effort to take our schools from good to great as evidenced by Guilford being in the top 10 high schools in the State this past year. Cindy chaired a committee that reviewed all our education policies, including the policy to retain small class sizes in the elementary school level, which is proven to sustain long term academic success in students. She pushed to expand the budget for teacher enrichment and education, established a long-term technology plan for teachers and classrooms, laid the groundwork for all-day kindergarten, which was finally included in this year’s program and supported improvements in curriculum, including world languages beginning in the 1stgrade. Cindy was a key member of the task force regarding the high school building review, which ultimately spearheaded the passage of the new high school. Outside this clear leadership role, Cindy has been a long standing member of the Guilford PTO, heading many activities and supporting teachers both in and outside the classroom.”
