Help keep Meigs Point Nature Center and all CT State Parks open for business!!!!

Support "Passport to the Parks" and the proposed NP-5 Union Contract... See @friendsofhammonasset on FB or hammonasset.org for more details.

Our State Parks are under attack in a misguided and ill thought out, knee jerk effort to save the state money and help balance the budget. Besides being beautiful, natural assets to the citizens of our state, providing us all with respite from the stress and calamity of the modern world and with multiple recreation opportunities, they are also revenue generating entities that draw tourists to our state and provide much needed jobs. As cash strapped as our state may be, we are shooting ourselves in the foot by following the present plan. In the case of Hammonasset State Park alone, the lay off of Ranger Russ will effectively close the brand new Nature Center, a facility that over 500,000 people visited last year. Those visitors not only paid money to visit the State Park but also supported many of the local businesses in the area. What can you do? Show your support for "Passports to the Parks" and the proposed NP-5 Union Contract by contacting your State Representatives and State Senators and ask them to vote Yes on the upcoming State budget vote. The gravity of the threat to our State Park system cannot be overstated.
