Help Solve 'Waste Crisis:' Composting, Recycling Program Oct. 12

CT's Sustainable Materials Management official Sherill Baldwin to speak at Guilford Free Library and Sustainable Guilford Task Force event.

GUILFORD, CT — The Sustainable Guilford Task Force and Guilford Free Library are partnering on a Recycling and Composting Informational Program at the Library Oct. 12 from 7 to 8 p.m.

Learn what goes in the recycling bin and what should stay out. Learn about the “waste crisis” and how to be part of the solution.

Sherill Baldwin from CT DEEP will share state priorities, and information about recycling markets and answer all your recycling questions.

She will be joined by Janice Plaziak, Guilford Town Engineer, who will answer questions about Guilford’s Pilot program for composting and the Sustainable Guilford Task Force.

Sherill Baldwin has been involved in sustainable materials management for over 30 years, and at DEEP since 2008. Ms. Baldwin’s current projects include the RecycleCT Foundation, CT WRAP initiative, and product stewardship programs. She facilitated the creation of a universal list of acceptable recyclables in Connecticut for the What’s IN? What’s OUT? campaign and helps promote the campaign. She received an M.S., in Resource Development from Michigan State University and B.A. in Solid Waste Management from UMASS/Amherst
