Horse Attacked By Unknown Animal In Guilford, But It Wasn't A Mountain Lion: Police

Police officials say a lot of "misinformation" has been posted regarding the incident.

GUILFORD, CT – Reports that a horse in the north end of town was attacked by a mountain lion or bobcat are false, according to officials. Police Chief Jeff Hutchinson said one horse was attacked on October 1st but said “lots of misinformation was being pushed” about the attack.

A statement on the town of Guilford’s website says the following about the attack:

“On October 1st a horse in town was attacked by an unknown animal. Concerns have been raised that this attack could have been caused by a mountain lion or a bobcat.

“This incident was investigated by the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and they determined that the injuries to the horse were canine in nature rather than feline.”
