Jacobs Beach In Guilford Closed Due To Septic System Upgrades
This project has been in the planning stages for months and will bring a state-of-the-art Passive Nitrogen Reduction system to the beach.

GUILFORD, CT — Due to the upgrades tot he Jacobs Beach septic system, the beach will be closed from May 1-3, according to an announcement on the town's website.
This project has been in the planning stages for many months and will bring a state-of-the-art Passive Nitrogen Reduction (PNR) system to the beach.
The PNR system is a unique and innovative solution that uses reactive media for denitrification and a single liquid pump, if necessary, the town said in a news release. This type of system is only the fourth installation in the state and will greatly protect the water quality at Jacobs Beach.

To ensure the safety of residents and visitors, certain areas of Jacobs Beach will be designated as construction zones and blocked off with a fence.
