Land Conservation Trust Buys 12-Acre Totoket Mountain Parcel

Called "key acreage," the trust paid $36,000 for the "last privately owned land" on Totoket Mountain in North Guilford, near Bluff Head.

GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Land Conservation Trust announced this week that it bought the "last privately owned land on Totoket Mountain in North Guilford, near Bluff Head.

The trust purchased the 12-acre parcel for $36,000 in January.

"Together with the 2021 acquisition of the 120-acre Bartlett Land Preserve, GLCT now owns about 620 acres between Route 77 and the North Branford town line, and another 205 acres on the east side of Route 77 to the Madison line," it noted on Facebook.

The property includes a portion of the New England Trail, a National Scenic Trail, as well as "vital wetlands and headwater streams for major Connecticut waterways," per the Trust.

The Land Trust is asking for "financial support for this acquisition, which came about more quickly than most."
