Part Time Finance Office Manager
First Congregational Church of Guilford (First Church) has created a new position, Finance Office Manager, responsible for processing and reporting the financial transactions of the church. The position is currently a part time position of approximately 15 hours per week. It is anticipated that this position will grow, over a period of time, to a full time position with increasing responsibilities.

The position requires a detail oriented person with high integrity and an understanding of the need for confidentiality in reporting the contributions of First Church’s members and friends. The ideal candidate will be computer literate with strong acumen in accounting and finance. The candidate will know and understand the processing of multi-modes of currency including credit cards, debit cards, ACH, and other electronic forms of payment. Ecommerce processing is a plus.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Process worship offerings and special collections-
Working with volunteer counters to sort and allocate all contributions
Enter donation data into data base.
Oversee and execute electronic/Credit Card contributions-
Provide alternative giving instructions and reconcile related questions/issues as they arise.
Work with appropriate financial firms to accomplish stock transfers and donations to First Church.
Produce Quarterly giving statements.
Maintain church wide database using Church Windows software.
Work with staff, officers, stewardship & other finance related volunteers to improve process, protocol and reporting tools.
Process and execute payments for church expenses and reimbursements.
Work with various committees providing assistance in tracking expenses and proper allocation of budgeted expenses.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
An accounting or financial background with a minimum of 5 years comparable work experience.
Expertise with Church Windows and spreadsheet software like Excel .
Demonstrated self starter and independent worker.
Highly detail oriented and able to manage different tasks simultaneously.
An affable, team player able to work with a variety of different staff members and volunteers to accomplish goals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Of high integrity and willing to submit to a background screen as a condition of employment.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
Finance Office Manager will work closely with Office Staff and Financial Officers. This person will report to Clergy and will have an ongoing working relationship with the Board of Finance, particularly the Chair. While, under First Church’s bylaws, the two Financial Officers have responsibility for many of the duties noted above, it is the goal of First Church that the Finance Office Manager position will, as it grows over time, accomplish all the day-to-day requirements of First Church finances, transitioning the Financial Officer positions to general review and overview of the work products produced by the Finance Office Manager.

The work environment is an office work environment located in the First Church offices. The position requires the successful candidate to work in this environment for the majority of hours worked.
CHURCH MEMBERSHIP
While the ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and meet the requirements noted above, familiarity with the workings of a church will also be an asset. However, in order to efficiently accomplish the duties, the position is not open to members of the First Church community.
