Report Lists Top Reasons Why Guilford Police Officers Pull Your Vehicle Over
If a Guilford police officer stops your vehicle it's likely going to be for a speeding offense, based on the data, but you may not be fined.

A recent report by the Connecticut Racial Profiling Prohibition Project found that the Guilford Police Department conducted 2,711 traffic stops from Oct. 1, 2013 through Sept. 30, 2014.
The data tells so many interesting stories. If a police officer in Guilford stops your vehicle, it’s likely for speeding. Almost half of Guilford’s traffic stops were for speeding, which was the seventh highest rate in the state.
Also if you’re pulled over there is a good chance you won’t receive a ticket. Guilford police have the ninth highest rate in the state when it comes to issuing warnings at 82 percent of the time.

The reasons a Guilford police officer is likely to pull you over includes: 46 percent are for speeding infractions; cell phone offenses, 12 percent; defective lights, 15 percent; moving violation, 4 percent; registration offense, 1.8 percent; seatbelts, 1.6 percent; stop signs, 9 percent; and failure to obey traffic control signals, 8 percent.
During those 2,711 traffic stops, Guilford police officers will give you a ticket 15 percent of the time, and a written warning, 77 percent of the time.

Of Guilford’s total traffic stops, 2 percent are for Black drivers and 71 percent are non-residents. Of Guilford’s traffic stops, 3 percent are Hispanics, and 60 percent are non-residents.
Overall, 7 percent of all of Guilford’s traffic stops involve minorities, and in Guilford there are 6 percent minority residents who live there, and are of legal driving age, according to the report.
