GUILFORD, CT – One of the high profile projects in towns in recent years is the luxury condominium project “The Residences at 66 High Street,” and Guilford’s economic development coordinator said expansion on the award-winning project is continuing while people are moving in at the same time.

“Eight units are already occupied or sold,” said Brian McGlone, Guilford’s chief economic development officer. “There are also 12 or 13 units on deposit for the second phase of the project,” McGlone added.

The converted 130-year-old mill building maintains its original roots by keeping its locally recognized exterior largely intact, while boasting luxurious townhouse interior styles with modern design and upscale amenities including LED lighting, state-of-the-art HVAC, sound systems, Smart Home technology, and spacious kitchens with high-quality appliances.

In addition to the mill building, which also includes an attached Quonset hut structure; three new buildings are being constructed on the site. Collectively, the buildings include townhouses and single-level, two-bedroom units ranging in size from 1,850 to 2,600 square feet.

When completed, there will be 57 condos at the site.

McGlone said those who are living or have bought the condos are lured by “the proximity to downtown, the train station, and to the beaches.”

While there are some younger people who have bought units, McGlone said the majority of buyers are older, long-time Guilford residents, many who are “seasonal people” who go to Florida for the winter but enjoy coming back to Connecticut – and Guilford – during the warmer months.

The development was honored in 2016 with the Home Building Industry (HOBI) Awards’ Project of the Year, the highest honor in the organization bestows on new developments.
