Results: America Decides Top 5 of American Idol Season 14
Nick Fradiani, 29, of Connecticut, learns if he advances to the top 5 of the popular Fox reality television show.

Connecticut is this close to having its first American Idol.
Nick Fradiani Jr., 29, made it into the top 5 of the popular reality singing competition on Wednesday night.
Fradiani, 29, who has ties to Guilford, East Haven, Milford, and West Haven, wowed the celebrity judges and fans with his live performance of Maroon 5’s “Harder to Breathe,” which he admits to selecting at the last minute.

He was the second person selected to advance into the top 5.

The other finalists include: Jax, Clark Beckham, Tyanna Jones, and Rayvon Owen, who was the last finalist selected via Twitter over Quentin Alexander, who was sent home.
As for Nick’s performance, the judges loved it, and so did the fans as he received a lengthy standing ovation and thunderous applause.
Harry Connick Jr. said Nick’s performance was “scary” for the other contestants because Fradiani continues to get better each week.
“It’s really nice, it’s great,” Connick said.
Jennifer Lopez said it’s clear that Nick is getting more and more comfortable with each week.
“It was pretty awesome,” Lopez told Fradiani.
She urged Nick to continue to engage the audience and that he had “them in the palm of your hand.”
“You’re getting better each week,” Lopez said.
By making it into the top 5, Nick will go out on a national tour with the Idol contestants.
Before he sang in a taped segment, the audience learned that Nick was an exceptional athlete, and he played college basketball before tearing a ligament, and that is when he turned his love to music.
Also the bond between Nick and his father is very strong. They two talk daily.
“No 29-year-old kid talks to his father everyday like I do,” Nick joked.
Before the show Nick wrote on Facebook, “Let’s get me into the Top 5 so I can tour the country this summer! Love you all for continued support.”
His Facebook page has almost 27,000 likes and fans from all over are cheering him on.

Marilou Belanger Clayton wrote, “Good luck Nick can’t wait to watch u rock that stage ! I will be voting.”

This isn’t Fradiani’s first time at the reality TV rodeo. He auditioned forAmerica’s Got Talent last year with his Milford band, Beach Avenue, bandmates, performing original songs.
