Robbery Reported at Webster Bank in Guilford

The incident occurred Wednesday afternoon and is currently under investigation.

The Guilford Police Department responded to a bank alarm at 3:20 p.m. at Webster Bank in Guilford, located at 1069 Boston Post Road.

According to a press release issued by the police department, employees at the bank reported an active robbery. Witnesses reported a lone black male in his mid-30s between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-9 who walked into the bank and directly approached the tellers demanding money.

The suspect was wearing an oversized gray hooded sweatshirt, dark blue denim jeans, an orange or yellow flat brimmed baseball cap and black and orange sneakers, according to police. The suspect placed black clothing over the lower half of his face, covering his nose.

The suspect left from the front of the bank, walking to the parking lot in the back where a witness reported him entering a white SUV and leaving in an unknown direction.

The incident is currently under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Guilford Police Department Detective Division at 203-453-8061.
