Several Vehicle Break-Ins Reported In Guilford, Neighboring Towns
BREAKING: Police are urging residents to keep their vehicles locked at all times.

GUILFORD, CT — Once again vehicles are being broken into in Guilford. Police say they are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday. The recent round of thefts occurred in and around the Mulberry Point area, police said. During the same time period, it was reported that neighboring towns had similar incidents which also included a stolen vehicle, police said.
"The Guilford Police want to take this opportunity to remind our community that everyone in town has a responsibility to protect their own property and can assist the Police by not being an "easy target" by taking these steps," police said.
Those steps include: locking your car, as all of the cars broken into have been left unlocked, police said. Don't leave your keys in the vehicle, all of the recent stolen cars were made "readily available to the thieves by leaving keys inside the vehicles (this includes valet keys inside the owners manual in the glove box.)"

"Do not leave personal belongings of value in plain sight inside the car to include purses, wallets, electronics, cash etc., this will only entice persons looking to commit these crimes to target your property."
"Though these steps seem simple and obvious, most incidents of vehicle break-ins and vehicle thefts are crimes of opportunity being created by property owners not taking simple steps to protect their property," police said. "Aside from the theft and property damage caused, these thieves put both the public and Police at risk when recklessly fleeing the areas of these crimes in stolen vehicles."
