Water Street Parking Lot Reconstruction Project to Begin Next Week

The Guilford Board of Selectmen voted award a contract to a company and actual construction begins next week.

GUILFORD, CT - The Water Street parking lot reconstruction project is expected to begin next week.

The Board of Selectmen voted earlier this month to award the contract to Laydon Industries for a total of $486,544. According to meeting minutes, the contract has received high marks for their past performances.

  • Public Works will be working with an electrician to put in underground electric for the lights. There will be 21 lights and they are going to be the same style as the ones on the Green.
  • The fire department has requested the installation of a fire hydrant in the back area. Public Works will do the digging and the water company will install the hydrant. This needs to be done before construction begins.

The actual construction will begin around March 28 and should be completed by the end of May.

The project was unanimously approved.
