1st Coronavirus Case Reported At Quinnipiac University

Quinnipiac University has reported its first confirmed case of the coronavirus on campus.

HAMDEN, CT — Quinnipiac University has reported its first case of the coronavirus on campus. The first confirmed case of COVID-19 was in the tests results from Sept. 9 to Sept. 16, according to data on the university’s website.

NBC Connecticut reports a commuter student, who lives at home with family, tested positive for the coronavirus and is self-isolating at home. The student is asymptomatic, according to school officials.

Out of the 2,278 tests performed and results available from Sept. 9 to Sept. 16, there was one positive COVID-19 case for a positive test rate of 0.04 percent, according to data release by Quinnipiac.

Overall, since Aug. 5, there have been 9,968 tests performed for a positive test rate of 0.01 percent.

Quinnipiac’s current risk level is “Green,” which is low risk and states “few positive cases and transmission is controlled through isolation and quarantine.”
