2 Charged In Shooting In Hamden: Police
Police said the shooting was the result of a dispute between multiple people that escalated to shots fired in a residential area.
HAMDEN, CT — Two New Haven residents have been arrested in connection with a shooting that happened in August in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded to Manila Avenue around 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 21 on the report of shots fired. Officers found a 35-year-old man, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot injury to his leg, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.
Detective Gabriel Garcia, along with detectives from the Hamden Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit, conducted an extensive investigation into the shooting, according to Dolan.

Dolan said the investigation found that the shooting was the result of a dispute involving multiple people. The situation escalated and multiple people involved began “discharging firearms in a residential area, including at an occupied vehicle,” according to Dolan.
Jonathan Garcia-Rodriguez and Idalizze Casillas-Barreto were identified as two of the shooters, Dolan said. They both turned themselves in to Hamden police on Friday on outstanding arrest warrants.

Garcia-Rodriguez, 36, and Casillas-Barreto, 38, were both charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm. They were each held in lieu of a $5,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 4.
Dolan said police expect to make more arrests in connection with the shooting.
