3 Arrested In Connection With Shooting In Hamden: Police
Three people who were in a stolen car were arrested in connection with a shooting Thursday night in Hamden, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — Three men were arrested in connection with a shooting Thursday night in Hamden, according to police.
The suspects were apprehended after they left a stolen vehicle that had crashed into “bushes and a raised mulch bed” during a police pursuit, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
The incident began around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 when Hamden police Officer Justin Martin heard multiple gunshots in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Morse Street. Martin then saw two speeding vehicles heading north on Dixwell Avenue, according to Smith.

Martin ascertained that the vehicles were involved in the shooting and followed one of them throughout several streets in Hamden and New Haven, according to Smith. The vehicle then struck “bushes and a raised mulch bed” on Cold Spring Street in New Haven, Smith said.
Four men then got out of the vehicle, which Smith said was stolen in Shelton, and walked away.

Davonte Jones was soon apprehended by Martin, along with Sgt. Michael Nawrocki and Det. Mark Sheppard. New Haven police, with assistance from Hamden police, found Whitfield hiding behind a dumpster on Autumn Street, according to Smith.
New Haven and Hamden police also arrested Frankie Tyson in the vicinity of Whitney Avenue and Huntington Street.
Police found a gun and ammunition inside the stolen vehicle and seized 44 grams of marijuana, according to Smith.
Whitfield, 19, of Bassett Street in New Haven, Tyson, 18, of State Street in Hamden, and Jones, 19, of Starr Street in New Haven, were all arrested. They were each charged with illegal discharge of a firearm, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree larceny, possession of a controlled substance, interfering with a police officer and multiple conspiracy charges.
They were held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of Dec. 11.
