American Dance Experience Takes on Worlds

Hamden dancers to compete with studios in seven different countries around the world

American Dance Experience will be proudly represented by 4 of their competition teams at the World Dance Championship in Secaucus, New Jersey next week. This prestigious competition consists of dancers and teams from seven different countries around the world.
All teams competing had to win a Golden Ticket invite to even attend the competition from one of over 200 regional and 3 national dance competitions. The first competing team consists of over 10 dancers which will perform a tap routine to “Hit The Road Jack.” The second competing team consists of over 40 dancers which will perform a tap routine to “Chopsticks.” The third competing team consists of 4 dancers, also known as the Fab Four; 3 of which will be their last time competing together before they begin their college careers, will perform a tap routine to “Someone in the Crowd.” Lastly, the fourth competing team consists of 6 dancers which will perform a tap routine to “Time for Tea.” It’s been a busy summer with not much time for a break between the annual recital, national dance competition and now the World Dance Championship, but dancers have been back in the studio this past two weeks as part of a special schedule to prepare for competition. The competing dances were choreographed by studio owner, Alicia DeCesare-Corcoran.
“These rehearsals focus on on spacing and cleaning things up because they know their dances so well,” said DeCesare-Corcoran. “They're so excited to go and are definitely pumped.” “The experience of taking the kids out of a small town and showing them that there’s dance around the world is so important,” she said. “It also brings our studio together like a family. These kids will have a bond now forever.”
The event will officially wrap up American Dance Experiences’ successful competition season, which also included a trip to nationals in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
"I am beyond proud of all that they have done this year. They proved themselves on that stage and shined like the stars that they are," DeCesare-Corcoran said.
