Elizabeth "Libby" Mahon, 93

Elizabeth"Libby" Mahon, 93 of Hamden died Monday at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by her children after a brief illness. She was the wife of Thomas H. Mahon, Jr. for 65 years.

Mrs. Mahon was born in Hamden on October 12, 1917 daughter of the late Emil and Anna (Aurisch) Simler and lived in Hamden with her husband most of her adult life. She worked at Heldor Industries, a family owned business, in the finance area. Libby was a member and past President of the New Haven Emblem Club 47 and also the Secretary for The Eastern Star for many years. She was a member of Hamden High School's first graduating class.

Libby is also survived by three children, Mrs. Susan (Richard) Nagle of Hamden, Mrs. Karen (John) Zelem of Bethany and Mr. Thomas (Sheryl) H. Mahon, III of Bethany. She has seven grandchildren Richard (Nicolette) and Kara Nagle, Heather, Joshua, and Ashley Zelem and Thomas H. Mahon IV and Lindsey Mahon. She also has two great grandsons, Stanley (Stashu) Kamykowski and Richard (Ricky) Nagle. She was predeceased by her three sisters, Clara (Harold) Glennon, Marie (Fred) Baldwin, and her twin Helen (Duke) Ellington as well as her five brothers Emil (Mildred) Simler, Albert (Agnes) Simler, Frederick (Mary) Simler, Frank (Elsie) Simler, and William Simler. The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 5-3 at Yale New Haven Hospital for their care and support.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Church of the Ascension, 1040 Dunbar Hill Rd. Hamden. Burial in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Family and friends may pay their respects Wednesday (Today) from 4 - 8 p.m. at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.
