Hamden Earth Day Celebration: Here’s What To Know

The event will feature family friendly activities and exhibits, live music, food trucks and more. Read details here.

HAMDEN, CT — Hamden’s Earth Day Celebration will take place on Saturday, April 25, at the Miller Cultural Complex at 2901 Dixwell Avenue in Hamden.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and feature “family-friendly, educational, and environmentally conscious exhibits and activities,” according to a news release.

All exhibitors will be located inside Thornton Wilder Auditorium. The Hamden Woman’s Club and the Hamden Veterans Commission will be on-site to collect worn and retired American flags.

At 11 a.m., Blue Moon Raptors will present their environmental educational program, Earth Day Raptors, inside the Senior Center with support from CT Humanities. Roger’s Kids Toys will be located by Josh’s Jungle all day for kid friendly activities.

At 1 p.m., Jim Sirch of the Hamden Land Conservation Trust will lead a storm water garden tour at Town Center Park.

Please bring your textiles and clothing to the Free Clothing Swap and textile recycling collection located next to the red barn by Josh’s Jungle. Please separate cleaned swap items from damaged or stained items for recycling. All leftover textiles will be donated to Bay State Textiles. This is a project of Hamden’s Solid Waste & Recycling Commission with Quinnipiac University Student Community Experiential Sustainability group support.

The brand new Haven’s Harvest Rescued Bites on Wheels Truck will be located in the parking lot outside of Thornton Wilder Auditorium with free snacks powered by Haven’s Harvest food recovery. Food trucks will also be on-site. Music by the band Hard Road will take place on stage in Thornton Wilder Auditorium.
