Arrest Made In Knifepoint Robbery Of Hamden Store: Police
The suspect was arrested after an extensive investigation, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — An East Haven man is accused of robbing a clothing store in Hamden at knifepoint over the summer, according to police. At about 8:15 p.m. on Aug. 26, Hamden Police responded to Plato’s Closet, located at 2335 Dixwell Avenue, on the report of a robbery with a knife, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
Smith said investigation revealed that an individual, who was later identified as George Lopez, entered the store wielding a knife. Lopez ordered the female clerk to open the cash register and then stole an undisclosed amount of money, according to Smith.
Officer Paul Calamita conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Lopez.

Hamden Police arrested Lopez on Dec. 4 at Meriden Superior Court.
Lopez, 23, of Tyler Street in East Haven, was charged with first-degree robbery. Lopez was detained on a court-ordered $100,000 bond. He was arraigned later in the day.
