Teen Charged With Illegal Possession Of Machine Gun Following Hamden Police Investigation: PD
Police said the teen was found to be in possession of a firearm equipped with an extended magazine and a "switch" conversion device.
HAMDEN, CT — A teen was charged with illegal possession of a machine gun Friday morning following a search of a Derby home by Hamden police, according to the Derby Police Department.
In a news release posted to Facebook, police said the Hamden Police Department SWAT Team executed a search warrant around 6 a.m. at a multi-family home on Water Street in Derby.
According to police, the warrant stemmed from "an ongoing investigation related to a recent firearms incident in Hamden."

During the search, a 17-year-old Derby resident was found to be in possession of a firearm equipped with an extended magazine, as well as a conversion device commonly referred to as a "switch" that enables a firearm to discharge in a fully automatic manner, according to police.
The teen was charged with illegal possession of a machine gun and illegal possession of an extended magazine, police said.
