Best-Selling Author Calls Recovery From Head-On Crash A 'Miracle'
Meriden's Laura Van Wormer was critically injured in a crash with a wrong-way driver on the Wilbur Cross Parkway in Hamden last month.

Best-selling author Laura Van Wormer, 59, of Meriden, said her recovery from a head-on collision in Hamden last month is a “miracle” as she provided a personal update on her condition on Facebook.
Van Wormer, who was listed in critical condition for two weeks after the June 14 accident, posted the following message on Facebook on Monday:
“Your prayers pulled me through. It is a miracle. I was hit head on by a drunk driver going the wrong way on the Merritt Parkway. First victory, your prayers saved me. My family feared I was gone. I woke up three weeks after the accident. A long road back physically but it’s a miracle. Please keep the prayers coming. I have several more operations to go but the big decision has been made. You cast the ballot for me. I will go on living. More as I can. Love, Laura.”
