Best-Selling Author Seriously Injured in Head-On Hamden Crash

A vehicle was driving in the wrong direction on the Wilbur Cross Parkway early Sunday morning.

Best-selling author, and Meriden resident, Laura Van Wormer was seriously injured when her vehicle collided with another vehicle that was driving in the wrong direction on the Wilbur Cross Parkway early Sunday morning in Hamden, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports that Van Wormer was listed in critical but stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Monday afternoon.

The driver of the other vehicle, Wilian Chavez-Sanchez, was also taken to Yale after the accident.

State police are investigating the crash, which occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Route 15 between the Heroes’ Tunnel and Exit 60.

Van Wormer is the author of “The Alexandra Chronicles” series and has written TV tie-in books for Dallas and Knots Landing.
