Brother and Sister Assaulted in Hamden: Police

Hamden police said four people including three teens were charged in the violent assault that included a stabbing.

Hamden police on Tuesday announced several arrests associated with a violent assault on a brother and sister that including a stabbing.

Arrested include three juveniles and a Hamden woman, police said.

Police Capt. Ronald Smith said on July 25 police responded to 306 Pine Rock Avenue on the report of a fight in progress.

Upon arrival, officers met with a 41-year-old victim who stated that he was assaulted and that his sister was stabbed, police said.

Officers subsequently entered an undisclosed unit and determined that the victim’s sister, 38, suffered several wounds, including lacerations to her face and a stab wound to her arm, police said. She proceeded to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Investigation revealed that a verbal altercation occurred between the female victim and several other individuals, including Shontae Walker, 37, of Pine Rock Avenue in Hamden.

Several individuals restrained her brother while the others assaulted her, police said. During the altercation, she was stabbed by a sharp object.

The group responsible for the assault then forcibly entered her apartment, where the assault continued. The individuals then fled from the area on foot.

Shortly thereafter Hamden Police arrested Walker and three juveniles.

Walker was charged with second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault on an elderly person, home invasion, third-degree assault, and Interfering with a police officer. Walker, who was detained on a $2,500 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on August 4th.

The juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 17, all from Hamden were charged accordingly. They are scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on August 6th.
