Bullet Strikes Wilmot Road Home in Hamden; Police Seek Information

Hamden police are investigating reports of shots fired in the West Helen Street area on Wednesday afternoon.

A bullet struck a house on Wilmot Road in Hamden Wednesday afternoon and police are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Hamden Police responded to a Wilmot Road address on the report of a gunshot fired into a house on Jan. 28.

The homeowner told police that at approximately 12:30 p.m. she heard a “loud bang” in the vicinity of her residence, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Several hours later, she discovered that a single bullet had entered her home through the second floor bedroom exterior wall. The bullet struck an interior wall before falling to the floor, according to Smith.

Hamden Police spoke with a witness who said that he heard two gunshots fired on West Helen Street at approximately 12:30 p.m. Wilmot Road is in close proximity to West Helen Street.
