Carnival Brawl Leads to Arrest
Crowd started fighting at Hamden Mart carnival Friday night, someone allegedly pulled a gun and pointed it at the people there.

An 18-year-old New Haven man was arrested Saturday night after a brawl broke out at a carnival going on in the parking lot of the Hamden Mart on Dixwell Avenue.
At about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, police received a report of a fight at the carnival, police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith said.
When officers arrived, they found "hundreds" of people running away after someone yelled "gun," Smith said.

"Officers then observed approximately 15 to 20 youths engaged in a brawl," Smith said. When they saw the officers, they took off, he said.
Lt. Kevin Samperi chased and caught Tequan Ledbetter, 18, of 26 Compton St., New Haven, Smith said. Earlier, officers had seen Ledbetter punching and kicking someone, Smith said.

Officers also determined that a man, described as "dark skinned," had pulled a large handgun and began pointing it at people, Smith said. That investigation continues, he said.
Ledbetter was charged with breach of peace. He posted $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in April 22.
