Cast Your Vote to Determine New Carpet Color at Library
Library officials are putting it in the hands of its patrons as to what color the new carpeting will be.

For more than three decades, hundreds of thousands of feet have trod upon the carpeting lining the floors at the Miller Memorial Central Library, and now it's time for new rugs.
Library officials want to know -- what color do you want the new carpeting to be?
Patrons and staff are looking forward to the facelift that will be provided by the new carpeting at the library scheduled to be installed this summer and paid for with a grant backed by Mayor Scott D. Jackson and the Legislative Council.

The task of replacing the existing carpet, which has endured the annual foot traffic of 340,000 people for more than 30 years, with a combination of broadloom and carpet tiles has reached the stage where the color of the carpet needs to be decided.
In recent weeks library staff narrowed the field to 3 final possibilities, and now Library Director Bob Gualtieri is putting the final decision in the hands of the public.

Samples of the three choices are on display in the library rotunda, where library users may cast their written ballot in favor of the sample they prefer. Technical assistant, Tracy Nista and clerk Jan Hebel are in charge of the voting process which ends July 1.
