Search Continues For 71-Year-Old Woman Missing From Hamden: Police

A Silver Alert has been issued for a 71-year-old woman who is missing from Hamden, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — Police are continuing to search for Vincenza Giannelli, 71, who was reported missing from Hamden on May 30.

In an update late Thursday night, police said investigators have now learned that at around 6:35 a.m. on May 30, Giannelli was seen boarding the 6:40 a.m. Metro-North train from New Haven to Grand Central Terminal.

She entered Metro-North railcar #9732, according to Hamden Police Det. Hailey Zarzuela.

Zarzuela said Giannelli requires a medical evaluation and is experiencing mental health-related concerns.

“Police are concerned for her safety and are asking the public to remain vigilant,” Zarzuela wrote in a news release.

A Silver Alert has been issued for Giannelli, who has short white hair, brown eyes, and is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, according to police.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the Hamden Police Department at 203-230-4000.

Giannelli has short white hair, brown eyes, and is approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall, according to police.

Police said Giannelli was last seen leaving her home in Hamden around 6 a.m. on May 30. She was driving a gray Hyundai Sonata, and her destination was unknown, according to police.

Giannelli requires a medical evaluation, police said.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is urged to contact the Hamden Police Department at 203-230-4000. Information may be provided anonymously, according to police.
