Hamden's Gopika Sheth Featured on Sounds of Health Podcast. Ms President US Registration Open Now

HAMDEN, CT — Ms President US leader Gopika Sheth was featured yesterday on the Sounds of Health podcast, sharing her inspiring journey from elementary school participant to accomplished youth leader, mentor, and founder of the Greater New Haven chapter of Ms President US.

A rising senior at Choate Rosemary Hall, Gopika has been part of the Ms President US program since fourth grade, when she first discovered a passion for leadership, public speaking, and civic engagement. Today, she leads the Greater New Haven chapter, mentors younger participants, and serves as a powerful role model for girls throughout the community.

During the podcast, Gopika discussed how the program helped shape her confidence and leadership skills while encouraging other young people to become active participants in their communities.

Gopika was elected Ms President Hamden in 2019, running on a platform of transportation access. In 2025, Gopika was recognized by Ms President US with the Presidential Volunteer Service Gold Award after contributing more than 100 hours of volunteer service. As a certified organization for the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, Ms President US honored Gopika for mentoring younger girls in the program while also volunteering with Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS) and at Hamden Fest.

The Sounds of Health podcast appearance highlights the growing impact of young women like Gopika who are demonstrating that leadership begins long before adulthood.

"I've grown up with Ms President US," said Gopika. "The program gave me confidence when I was in elementary school, and now it's incredibly rewarding to help younger girls discover their own voices and realize that they can make a difference in their communities."

Ms President US is a national, nonpartisan leadership and civic engagement program for girls in grades 4-8, with chapters throughout Connecticut and New York. Through public speaking, mentorship, community service and campaign experience, participants develop the confidence and skills to become tomorrow's leaders.
