“The RWA Chief Operator notified our command staff there was a leak of polypropylene glycol which their employees were able to stop prior to our arrival,” Naples wrote in a news release. “The HFD Hazmat Technicians confirmed the isolation of the leak and its containment of approximately 150 gallons of glycol in the RWA’s reserve tank. After extensive investigation with RWA and the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) it was confirmed that no glycol entered the potable water supply or sewerage system. The RWA’s licensed contractor was responding for removal and clean-up.
“The Hamden Fire Department would like to thank the Regional Water Authority and the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection for their cooperation and coordination in this incident.”
