Driver Charged In Fatal Crash That Killed Pedestrian In Hamden: Police
A 37-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this year in Hamden.
HAMDEN, CT — An 83-year-old driver has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian earlier this year in Hamden, according to police.
Domenico Esperti, of Hamden, turned himself in to Hamden police on Thursday on an outstanding arrest warrant in connection with the May 18 crash that happened on Paradise Avenue, according to Detective Sean J. Dolan.
Responding officers found the victim, later identified as 37-year-old Shauna Devlin, in the roadway, according to Dolan. Devlin was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Brett Ferrara Hamden Police Department’s Traffic Division conducted an extensive investigation into the accident.
Dolan said the investigation found that Devlin was struck by a vehicle that left the scene after the collision. Police later recovered the suspect vehicle in the area of Hume Drive and determined that Esperti was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident, according to Dolan.

Esperti was charged with evading responsibility and interfering with police. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of Nov. 17.
