Drug Dealers Had Young Kids in Car: Hamden Police

Police completed a lengthy drug investigation with the arrest of three people and seized 37 bags of cocaine and 60.6 grams of marijuana.

Hamden, CT — Three New Haven residents face drug charges following a lengthy investigation by the Hamden Police Department’s Street Interdiction Team, according to police.

Police concluded the drug investigation with the arrests of New Haven residents Warren Ligon, Janae Nelson and Tyler Nelson, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said the suspects were arrested inside of a motor vehicle, which was located in the area of Webb Street and Merritt Street. There were two young children seated inside of the vehicle, according to Smith.

Officers seized 37 bags of crack cocaine and 60.6 grams of marijuana during the arrest.

Ligon, 23, of 1280 Townsend Avenue, New Haven, was arrested on charges of possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and risk of injury to a minor.

Ligon, who was detained on a $50,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on June 15.

Janae Nelson, 22, of 649 Orchard Street, New Haven, was charged with possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics with the intent to sell, possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to sell and risk of injury to a minor.

Nelson was released after posting a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on June 16.

Tyler Nelson, 22, of 593 Orchard Street, New Haven, was charged with possession of marijuana. He was issued an infraction at the scene, according to Smith.
