Elderly Dog Missing For Days Found At Sleeping Giant Park

Sadie, 17, who is deaf, went missing at Sleeping Giant State Park over the weekend.

HAMDEN, CT — Some great news to share tonight… Sadie, the 17-year-old dog who is deaf and went missing at Sleeping Giant State Park on July 27, has been found. Chris Roush shared the good news in a post on Facebook, saying “We found her!!!” along with a photo.

Roush’s wife, Shannon Gilbert Roush, posted an update in the comments saying that Sadie was in a hole and couldn’t get out.

“Needed fire department to come and help - which they did!!!,” she wrote. “She was barking (great sign: still has spirit!). Going to the vet tonight for observation. And a volunteer found her and went down in the hole!

In an update Thursday morning, Chris Roush said Sadie is at the vet and "doing much better! We are so thankful for all the help in finding her and rescuing her."

(Original post): HAMDEN, CT — The search continues for Sadie, a 17-year-old dog who is deaf and went missing at Sleeping Giant State Park over the weekend. Chris Roush, the Dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University, is asking for help with locating Sadie.

“Sadie pulled off her leash and collar today (July 27) at Sleeping Giant park and took off into the park,” Roush wrote in a post on Twitter. “She’s deaf, so you can’t call her. If you see her in Mt. Carmel area, please call me at +19195933921. Reward offered.”

Roush said that Sadie is 17, but very active. A group helped with the search on Sunday and Monday, but Roush reported that Sadie was still missing as of Tuesday afternoon.
