Hamden Candidate Profile: Valerie Horsley For Legislative Council

HAMDEN, CT — The 2019 municipal election is heating up in Hamden and there are plenty of races with candidates eager to serve in elected office.

Hamden Patch asked candidates to answer questions about their campaigns and will be publishing candidate profiles as election day draws near.

Valerie Horsley is running for a seat on the Legislative Council in the 4th District as a Democrat. She has worked as a professor/scientist for 10 years and has a Ph.D. in Cell Biology. She has two children, ages 13 and 8.

High Mill rate; work to create a fair town budget that minimizes increases in the mill rate and still provides services that we enjoy.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

As a Democrat, I stand in my values of social and economic equity and justice for all Hamden residents. As a scientist and community activist, I am a proven problem solver. As a mother that is still raising my kids, I understand the challenges that working families are faced today: increasing costs of college education, frozen wages, high cost of child-care, and more.
