Hamden Democratic Primary 2021: Garrett Defeats Leng
Hamden Democrats will head to the polls Tuesday to pick their candidates for mayor, town council, board of education and more.

HAMDEN, CT — Lauren Garrett has defeated three-term incumbent Mayor Curt Balzano Leng in the Democratic Primary election, according to the New Haven Independent.
The Independent reports Garrett defeated Leng by more than a 2-1 margin, and her row of endorsed candidates also won their primaries.
Garrett received the Democratic Town Committee's endorsement in July. Leng didn't seek the party's endorsement and was looking to win a fourth full-term in office through the primary election. No Hamden mayor has been elected to a fourth term in the town's history.
