Hamden Library to Kick Off Annual Adult Winter Reading Program
Cabin Fever Readers winter reading program begins January 3. This year's theme: Travel.
Hamden Public Library will launch the fourth year of its Cabin Fever Reader adult reading program on Tuesday, January 3. Open to anyone ages 16 and up, the program not only encourages reading as a worthwhile pastime for the winter season by offering the chance of winning weekly prizes to those who participate by logging their reading (either manually or online), but invites readers to attend a variety of programs designed to distract them from winter doldrums. This year’s theme is travel as exemplified by the program kick-off on entitled “Italy: A Cultural Journey” which will be presented by Ashley Turney on Tuesday, January 10 at 7 p.m. programs include “Cruising” with the staff of Hamden’s Adler Travel at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17, “A Visit to Mongolia” presented by library directory Marian Amodeo on Tuesday, January 24 at 2 p.m., “Paris, Sera Toujour Paris” with Carole Rothschild on February 7 at 2 p.m., “Travel for Self-Discovery” presented by Nina Lesiga at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 21. Cee Jay Robinson brings her “Australian Adventure” presentation on Wednesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. and Nina Lesiga returns with a talk on “Daycationing” for the Cabin Fever Reader Grand Finale on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. All programs will be held in the Thornton Wilder Auditorium at the Miller Cultural Complex which also houses the library. They are free and open to the public. Registration through the library’s website, hamdenlibrary.org, is suggested. Phone registration is also accepted at 203-287-2680. Participation in the reading program can be initiated in person at any of Hamden’s three library locations or on the library’s website.
