Eventually a man told police that Bryce Barnes, 21, was the shooter and that Barnes and another man got into an argument over Barnes not being invited to a previous party, Hartman said.

Barnes was wearing a red sweatshirt and threatened to shoot the man. He pulled up his sweatshirt and revealed a gun before he fired two shots into the air.

Barnes left the party and came back with different clothing and without the gun, Hartman said.

Police spoke with Barnes who said he got into an argument with a man at the party and that he was threatened and left the party.

Police also asked Barnes how he got to the party after noticing he had a key ring with a Honda key and a remote starter. At first he said he got a ride from someone else and then said he walked, Hartman said.

Police looked at the key ring a second time and noticed that the Honda key was now missing. Officer Keron Bryce pressed the remote starter and a nearby Honda's engine started.

Barnes denied having anything to do with the vehicle even though the last name on the registration was Barnes and a young man who claimed to be Barnes' younger brother was inside, Hartman said.

Barnes' brother said he was waiting for Barnes and that the car belonged to Barnes.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a red sweatshirt, a .357 magnum revolver with four rounds in the chamber and two empty slots.

Barnes was charged with unlawful discharge, weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a pistol without a permit, threatening in the first degree, and reckless endangerment in the first degree.
