Hamden Man Charged with Criminal Possession of Body Armor
Police found body armor marked with the words "Police" and "Secret Service" at the man's residence.

A Hamden man was charged with illegally possessing body armor after police conducted a probation search of his residence.
Hamden police responded to 96 Lakeview Avenue on June 3 to assist to assist New Haven Adult Probation.
Probation Officers wanted to search Richard Bove’s residence for unreported computers and cell phones, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

While transporting Bove to his residence, he made a threatening remark toward the mother of his children, according to Smith.
During the search of his residence, Probation Officers located body armor with the words “Police” and “Secret Service” written on the carrier. In addition, officers seized two pellet guns and a holster.

Smith said Bove, who has been convicted on a “Class C Felony”, is not to be in the possession of body armor.
Richard Bove Jr., 47, of 96 Lakeview Avenue, was arrested on charges of criminal possession of body armor and disorderly conduct.
Bove, who was detained at police headquarters on a $5,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in court in Meriden on June 19.
