Hamden Man Charged with Sexually Assaulting Two Children Under the Age of 12
Police said the man threatened to kill the children if they told their mother.

A Hamden man is accused of sexually assaulting two children, both under the age of 12, for several years in addition to letting the victims watch pornography on the computer and threatened to kill them if they told their mother, according to police.
With the assistance of the New York Police Department and U.S. Marshals, Hamden police arrested Brian Mayo, 28, on an arrest warrant on May 1.
Hamden police received the complaint of the sexual assault in February and the Hamden Police Department Special Victims Unit was assigned the investigation, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Detective Angelo DeLieto conducted an extensive investigation which led to the application of an arrest warrant for Mayo.
Smith said Mayo subsequently fled to New York.

On April 6, Detective Raymond Quinn, who is assigned to the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force, assisted other task force members, who arrested Mayo in Staten Island, New York. NYPD officers also participated in the arrest.
Mayo, who waived extradition, was transported to Hamden Police Headquarters on May 1.
Mayo, 28, was charged with two counts of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of risk of injury to a minor and two counts of threatening. Mayo, who was detained on a $300,000 bond, was scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on May 4.
