Hamden officials help Experience Corps appreciate their volunteers

Inter-generational literacy tutoring program honors volunteers along with Hamden officials

On May 26, 2016, Mayor Curt Leng and Superintendent, Jody Goeler, attended a reception to honor Experience Corps' older adult volunteers who served as literacy tutors in Hamden elementary schools this past school year. In their comments, both Mayor Leng and Mr. Goeler expressed appreciation for the volunteers and for the 10-year partnership with Experience Corps. They also noted the benefit of having caring, older adults helping young students learn to read. Experience Corps is a program of the Agency on Aging of South Central CT and a proud member of the AmeriCorps National Service Network.
