Hamden Police Investigate Numerous Residential Burglaries
Police said there have been numerous burglaries in the southern portion of town while residents were asleep.

During the past month, Hamden Police have investigated numerous burglaries in the southern portion of town, police said in a public statement Friday.
Three of the burglaries have occurred during the early morning hours, while the residents were asleep.
During a majority of the burglaries, entry has been gained through a rear, unlocked kitchen window. On several occasions, the homeowner has left the keys to their motor vehicle, as well as personal belongings, in the kitchen, police said. Items stolen in the burglaries include motor vehicles, jewelry, electronic equipment and money, police said.

There have been numerous reported burglaries that have occurred in other jurisdictions that have been similar in nature.
The Hamden Police Department would like to provide residents with the following crime prevention tips:

Lock all windows and doors at bedtime
Lock all windows and doors if you are leaving your residence
Illuminate your property
Do not keep any valuables, including keys to your motor vehicle, in the kitchen. Secure these items in a locked compartment if necessary
Do not keep any valuables inside of your motor vehicle
Activate your alarm
Have a fully-charged cell phone by your bed
Do not confront an intruder, dial 911 immediately
Talk with your neighbors and share information/watch each other’s property
