Hamden Republican Town Committee Chairman Matthew Corcoran Dies at 38

Corcoran was active in Hamden politics and ran for mayor in 2011.

Hamden Republican Town Committee Chairman Matthew Corcoran has died at the age of 38.

Corcoran, who grew up in Milford and moved to Hamden in 2005, was active in the Hamden political scene, having run for mayor in 2011 and for state representative twice, most recently in the November election. He was elected to the chairman of the town GOP in March, according to the New Haven Register.

“Matt was a smart, dedicated and giving public servant,” Hamden Chief Administrative Officer Curt Leng said. “He conducted himself both on the many commissions he has served and in his runs for office with dignity, intelligence, a sense of service and with a terrific sense of humor. He was a true gentleman and will be sorely missed.”
