Hamden Students Are Invited For Sgt. Stubby Presentation
At The Knights of Columbus Museum Friday, May 25
The Knights of Columbus Museum in New Haven is welcoming students from Hamden and Middletown to a presentation about Sgt. Stubby next Friday, May 25th!
The talk is by Ann Bausum, a Wisconsin-based educator and author of many books, notably "Stubby the War Dog" which highlights the true story of a stray from New Haven that became mascot to the 102nd Infantry Regiment during WW1.
Also recently in theaters is a Movie About Stubby, which helps introduce the larger story of the world's first international conflict in the modern era.

Ann may be attended the dedication of a Stubby statue at Ct. Trees Of Honor on May 26th. What is also noteworthy is that the Middletown school principal, Lawrence Fitzgerald, is a retired U.S. Army Colonel and former member of the 102nd Infantry Regiment. He plans to bring two other former members too.
Also invited is Christine Pittsley, of the Connecticut State Library, who just returned from a two-week “Stubby” tour of WW1 sites in France. The museum has an extensive WW1 exhibit currently and the Knights of Columbus were very active in war relief efforts domestically and abroad during WW1.
