Hamden Teen, 14, Killed In Shooting Identified: State Police
The teen's death is being investigated by Connecticut State Police's Major Crimes Unit, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT — Police have identified the Hamden teenager killed in a shooting earlier this week near Waterbury as 14-year-old Will Vasquez. He would have turned 15 on Nov. 7.
Waterbury police received a report around 3:30 a.m. on Monday that a juvenile who was shot in the back of the head had been brought to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury. He was transferred to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford where he later died, according to Connecticut State Police.
Information developed during the investigation found that the shooting occurred within the jurisdiction of the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crimes Unit, according to officials.

“As a result, WDMC detectives have assumed the investigation into this incident and are working in conjunction with, Waterbury Police, New Haven Police, Monroe Police, Darien Police, the New Haven Shooting Task Force, members of the FBI Taskforce and the Connecticut State Police Bureau of Special Investigations,” officials wrote in a news release.
