Hamden Teen Charged with Home Burglary
The 17-year-old is accused of entering a home while the homeowner was sleeping.

Hamden, CT — A 17-year-old Hamden resident has been charged with a September 2015 burglary in which he is accused of entering a West Helen Street home while the homeowner was sleeping.
Investigation revealed that the teen rang the doorbell several times and then “banged” numerous times on a bedroom window, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.
When he didn’t get a response, the teen attempted to gain entry through an open living room window, according to Smith.

The homeowner subsequently startled the juvenile, who fled on foot.
Detective Mark Consorte assumed the investigation, which led to the application of an arrest warrant for the juvenile, whose name wasn’t released because of his age.

On June 21, the juvenile was arrested at the Manson Correctional Institute, where he is incarcerated on unrelated charges, according to Smith.
The 17-year-old was charged with second-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny. He is scheduled to appear in Juvenile Court in New Haven on July 14.
