Hazardous Weather Outlook Issued for Hamden Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for most of Connecticut for potentially strong storms and heavy rain early Thursday and possibly again later on Thursday.

The entire state may see thunderstorms and rain but no advisory was issued for New London and Middlesex counties.

The chance of showers and storms could begin in the early morning hours on Thursday and pick up again Thursday afternoon.

For southern Fairfield and New Haven counties, including areas along the coastline, the National Weather Service states:

“Showers and thunderstorms early Thursday morning as a warm front passes through could produce heavy rain and associated urban flooding...Which could negatively impact the morning commute.”

A few thunderstorms later Thursday into Thursday evening may also produce strong wind gusts.

For areas inland in Fairfield and New Haven counties, the Weather Service states:

“A few thunderstorms later Thursday into Thursday evening may produce strong wind gusts.”

For Hartford and Tolland counties the National Weather Service states:

“There is a potential for some strong to severe thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon and evening. Excessive heat is possible Friday as temperatures soar to 90 to 95 degrees combined with high humidity.”

New London and Middlesex counties:

No advisory has been issued but scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible early Thursday but it will be mostly cloudy. There may also be more scattered showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon hours, especially from 2 to 3 p.m., according to the weather service.

Up to a quarter of an inch of rain is possible here.
