Victim Identified in Sleeping Giant State Park Death

West Haven man suffered an apparent heart attack while hiking in Hamden.

The 62-year-old man who collapsed and died Sunday while hiking at Sleeping Giant State Park has been identified as Edward Tibor of West Haven, according to the Hartford Courant.

Dennis Schain of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection told the Courant that Tibor suffered an apparent heart attack.

The 62-year-old man who collapsed and died Sunday while hiking at Sleeping Giant State Park is a West Haven resident, according to the New Haven Register.

A 62-year-old man died while hiking at Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden Sunday afternoon while suffering from a “medical emergency,” WTNH News 8 reports.

The name of the man is not being released until his family is notified.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. and News 8 reports the man was hiking on the blue trail when he suffered the medical emergency. Details about the medical emergency are currently not available, police said.

A woman attempted to revive the man by performing CPR. Police said it was tough to reach the man because of where he was located.
