Man, 53, Stabbed Multiple Times During Robbery Attempt in Hamden
The suspect fled on foot after he couldn't get the victim's vehicle into gear and was arrested by police in New Haven.

Hamden police have charged a New Haven man with stabbing a 53-year-old man multiple times during an attempted robbery Sunday afternoon.
Police responded to the area of Butler Street and Goodrich Street at about 3:30 p.m. on the report of a stabbing.
Responding officers met with the victim, who was bleeding profusely with multiple stab wounds to the chest, stomach and arm, Capt. Ronald Smith said in a press release.

Hamden Fire Rescue rendered medical assistance and the victim was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery.
Smith said investigation revealed that the victim exited his motor vehicle to make a purchase at the P and M Corner Mart. He was confronted by an individual, who was later identified as Richard Moore-Taylor, who had asked him for money.

The victim told Moore-Taylor that he would give him some money after he made his purchase. Shortly after exiting the store, Moore-Taylor began stabbing the victim repeatedly with a knife, according to Smith.
Moore-Taylor then attempted to steal the victim’s vehicle but couldn’t get it into gear.
Moments later, Moore-Taylor was observed fleeing southbound on foot on Butler Street. Deputy Chief Bo Kicak, Officer Justin Thibault and several New Haven Police Officers subsequently responded to 162 Butler Street, where Moore-Taylor was taken into custody, according to Smith.
Moore-Taylor, 32, of 162 Butler Street in New Haven, was arrested on charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and second-degree larceny.
Moore-Taylor, who was detained on a $250,000 bond, is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 27.
