Man Arrested On Gun Charge: Hamden Police
The man was found to be in the possession of a gun while police were investigating a recent shooting in Hamden, according to officials.
HAMDEN, CT — A New Haven man was arrested Monday on a gun charge while police were investigating a recent shooting in Hamden, according to police.
Detectives were conducting a follow-up investigation in the area of Goodrich Street and Butler Street around 4:30 p.m. on May 22, according to Sgt. Angela Vey. The investigation was regarding the May 16 shooting in the area that sent three people to the hospital.
While canvassing the area, the detectives saw a man walking on Shelton Avenue that fit the description of a person that was possibly injured in the shooting incident on May 16, according to Vey.

Vey said detectives then saw that the man “adjusted a concealed object in the front of his waistband.”
The man, identified as 28-year-old Rayshawn Pender of New Haven, was found to have a concealed 9mm handgun in his waistband, according to Vey.

Pender was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a firearm. He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
