Man Breaks Into Ex-Girlfriend’s Apartment, Punches Sleeping Man in Face: Hamden Police

The 21-year-old victim received numerous stitches as a result of the assault, according to police.

HAMDEN, CT — A Cheshire man is accused of punching a sleeping man in the face after breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in Hamden, according to police.

Hamden Police began an investigation on Nov. 15 after a burglary and assault occurred in the 100 block of Pine Rock Avenue, according to Capt. Ronald Smith.

Smith said investigation revealed that Jake Nesdale illegally entered his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and “assaulted her 21-year-old male acquaintance.”

Nesdale is accused of punching the victim in the face while he was asleep, according to Smith.

The victim went to Yale-New Haven Hospital with a facial injury and received numerous stitches.

Officer John Glass conducted the investigation and submitted an arrest warrant application for Nesdale to Meriden Superior Court, which approved the request, according to Smith.

On Dec. 7, with the assistance of the Cheshire Police Department, Nesdale was arrested at his residence.

Nesdale, 21, of Patton Drive in Cheshire, was charged with second-degree burglary and third-degree assault. He was released after posting a court-ordered $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Dec. 21.
